Four speeding signs have been installed at an "accident blackspot".

The introduction of the Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) at Barn End crossroads, Warton, will improve safety at the site which has seen six accidents in five years, Warwickshire County Council said.

The £35,000 signs will be jointly funded by county councillors Andy Wright (Baddesley and Dordon) and Marian Humphreys (Polesworth).

“Although the work has been carried out outside my ward, residents of Polesworth and those travelling through the village, will benefit," Ms Humpreys said.

Mr Wright said previous success in other areas using VAS to slow down traffic had made him think it could be the solution for Barn End.

Every councillor has an allocated budget that can be used to address highway problems in their ward.

VAS let motorists know if they are driving within or exceeding the speed limit of the road.
