Crews have been tackling a large forest fire close to a major road.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sent four engines and a water carrier to the southern edge of Thetford Forest, close to the border with Norfolk, at 14:24 BST.

The blaze covered an area equivalent to about two football pitches, between the villages of Elveden and North Stow, less than half a mile from the A11 dual carriageway.

As of 16:11, the service said the fire had been "successfully sectorised". The Forestry Commission was also at the scene.

There has also been a fire in the forest around a mile north, near the B1107 between Brandon and Thetford.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has sent three engines, a water carrier and a tactical response vehicle after being called just after 14:00.

The blaze covers an area of around 60 sq m (about 645 sq ft) and is being kept under control using misting units.
