Head in the clouds: Scotland's mountains in pictures

Climbers and hillwalkers have been making the most of some recent good weather to explore Scotland's hills.

Views across Glen Coe, Cairngorms and Torridon have been among those captured by BBC Scotland News' online readers.

Tony Kivistik, of Glenrothes, took this picture. He said: "A view of Lochnagar snapped using my phone. Bailey, my friend Ray's cocker spaniel enjoyed the walk and, evidently, that view."

Colin Levey's view to Sgùrr Fiona and the Corrag Bhudhe Pinnacles taken from the summit of neighbouring Bidean a Ghlas Thuill.

John Stokes' image of Sgùrr Chòinnich in Glen Carron during cloud inversion. He said: "Completely unexpected after climbing up through thick cloud - I couldn’t believe my luck! The layers came off as the temperature soared and I had an amazing couple of hours strolling across the ridge before returning to the gloom below."

Judith Shaw took her picture of Buchaille Etive Mòr while walking from Glen Coe to Rannoch Station with some friends. Judith said: "I just thought the colours are beautiful and this angle shows how the mountain guards the entrances to Glen Coe and Glen Etive. It was a stunning but very hot day for the hike."

Kyle Lenaghen said: "I was walking up Beinn a' Bheithir at the weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect as you can see in the picture."

Nigel Patrick said: "This is a photo I took during a recent ascent of Liathach in Torridon on a beautiful day in the Highlands. The views from the summit were spectacular."

Nik Breslin, of Glasgow, said: "I took my dad for his first summit camp up Ben Donich and we were treated to a perfect night and morning - and no midges."
