A man has been arrested after an 18-year-old motorcyclist died in a road crash.

Emergency services were called to the A370 at Hewish, near Weston-super-Mare, after a crash between a car and a motorcycle at about 22:20 BST on Tuesday.

Police said an 18-year-old man was treated at the scene but died of his injuries.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being held in police custody.

The road has now reopened after it was closed in both directions between the M5 Junction 21 roundabout and Congresbury for more than 12 hours.

A police spokesperson said the teenager's next of kin have been informed and that the force is appealing for witnesses.
