A police force has urged motorists not to park on road chevrons otherwise their vehicles will be seized and they could receive a penalty notice.

On Thursday a car parked illegally on the chevrons on Luton Road, Dunstable, was taken away by Bedfordshire Police.

The force has urged people to park in safer places on a road in order to avoid causing an accident.

It said any incidents of people parking in a dangerous manner should be reported to officers.

Vans also park on the chevrons in the middle of the road

A resident on Luton Road, who wishes to be anonymous, said it was frustrating when vehicles park on the chevrons as it prevents him from turning directly into his driveway.

He said delivery vans sometimes park in the middle of the road.

He added that the problem has got worse in the last few months and he has noticed more cars parked in the middle of the road in the evenings.

He said it was good that police were paying more attention to the issue.
