Officers are investigating "at pace" after gunshots were fired at a house in Sheffield.

Armed officers attended the property on Blayton Road in the Pitsmoor area at 02:40 BST and found windows and a door had been damaged.

The occupants of the house were not injured, South Yorkshire Police said.

Det Insp Claire Moss said: "We have zero tolerance towards gun crime in South Yorkshire and will relentlessly pursue those who use weapons with intent to cause harm and fear in our communities."

She asked anyone with information to get in touch with the force, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

"Every time a discharge occurs in our city, it puts lives at risk," she said.

"We are working at pace to find those responsible, and bring them to justice, but we are stronger with your help."

South Yorkshire Police said officers remained on the scene on Tuesday gathering evidence.
