Guernsey Airport was forced to temporarily close its runway after a flight from Alderney lost its hydraulic systems while landing, Guernsey Ports has said.

The crew of the Dornier aircraft could not steer the plane due to the failure at about 08:10 BST, meaning it was unable to clear the runway.

The plane was towed out of the way at about 08:40. The runway reopened 10 minutes later.

The aircraft had 17 passengers on board, but no injuries were reported.
