A trial has begun of a man accused of murdering a woman who was found dead at her home during a fire.

Linda Hood, 68, was discovered by fire crews at the property on Cherwell Way in Gorleston, Norfolk, on 11 June 2021. A post-mortem examination showed she died from strangulation.

Paul Kelly-Bridle, 59, of Worcester Way in the town, denies charges of murder and arson.

He was not present at Norwich Crown Court and the trial was adjourned until Thursday due to him being unwell with pneumonia.

The trial is expected to last four weeks.
