Your pictures of Scotland: 1 December - 8 December

This week, the cold, frosty and snowy weather featured in many of the Your pictures of Scotland gallery. John Estcourt captured this view walking back down from the Old man of Storr, on the Isle of Skye, in the early morning.

Louise Took pictured these chilly cows and said: "Some coos in a very cold and misty Dufftown. I think they were a bit miffed I didn’t have any snow-free grass for them!"

Spot the shooting star! Christopher Harrison took this spectacular picture of the aurora borealis above Glencoe at the weekend.

Laura MacLeod, of Glasgow, said she was surprised to see a "chicken" had photobombed her picture on the right!

"An ominous snow-laden sky off Portobello," said Malcolm Stewart, who took this image.

James Walker Lyon was out with his cycling team on an early morning spin, when he caught the sunrise hitting the Forth Bridge.

This colourful sky of the aurora borealis was captured by Alan C Tough, from Elgin.

Lesley Slater visited the Christmas Market at George Square and took this picture of her two sons on the swings.

Simon Filsell, of Edinburgh, took this picture of Melrose Abbey as the winter sunlight still lit the Abbey.

"A lovely calm, but very cold day near North Berwick with beautiful views across to the Bass Rock," said Neil Barford, of Perthshire, who took this picture.

George Kelsey said: "It was baltic but beautiful, and I was delighted to see the fox out early."

Red sky in the morning... Robert Westerman captured this picture as the sun was about to rise behind Davaar Island, on Campbeltown Loch.

"The fantastic Perth and District pipe band getting into the spirit of Christmas in Perth," pictured by Angela Pearson, Fife.

Mary Stewart took this photo of the North Carr lightship in Dundee at dawn.

"Set up so the snowman could look out to sea and enjoy the beautiful view," said Lorraine Tulloch, whose children built these snowmen at Irvine Beach Park.

These yachts, with festive lights on their masts, were captured by Bill Cameron, of Lochaber, at the Corpach Marina.

Paul Weir took this picture of Ben Nevis, from Corpach, with the MV Dayspring in the foreground.

"Here are some pictures my dad, Niall Ritchie, took yesterday at Cruden Bay Beach of our black Labrador, Storm. Storm met some friends on his walk," said Ailsa Ritchie.

Clare Chapman, of Orkney, said: "This is one of our stunning 360 degree sunsets at this time of year in Orkney. It's looking north east from Otterswick on the isle of Sanday, towards North Ronaldsay."

Alex Mackintosh took this picture of the abandoned pink house on Loch Glass in the Highlands. He said: "Such a nice walk and on a still day you can really see how Loch Glass got its name! It was a chilly day, but well worth it!"

A flock of Red Shank, along the River Nairn, captured by Hazel Thomson ,Elgin.

Derek Cuthbertson, of Irvine, took this image of "Winter wonderland" at Buachaille Etive Mòr, Glencoe.

"Snow storm in the North Sea photographed from Portknockie, Moray. If you look closely at the horizon you can make out some of the turbines of the Beatrice Wind Farm," said Richard Paton, of Perth.

A bunch of deer in the frosty countryside in Argyll & Bute, taken by James Lehmann.

Hataitip Groth took this picture of the Tay Bridge at sunset in Dundee.

"This robin, all fluffed up against the cold, appears as if it was startled. Probably just caught it when about to fly off the fence," said Marie-Pierre Garroway.

Dave Stewart, of Ullapool, said: "Here's the International Space Station passing over Ullapool soon after sunset, when the reflected sunlight on the station's solar panels can be very bright."

Jacki Gordon, of Glasgow, said she needed a "wee lie down" after all the frisbee fun in the snow with Ollie the collie.
