Temporary traffic lights will be removed during the day on a major Hastings road project.
The Queensway Gateway Road, linking the A21 Sedlescombe Road North and Queensway, was due to open on 31 August but has been delayed.
From 1 September, East Sussex Highways said the lights will not be used between 06:00 and 20:00 BST to allow two-way traffic.
The A21 Sedlescombe Road North will be closed overnight from 20:00 to 06:00, seven days a week.
A spokesperson for East Sussex Highways said: "We are aware of the disruption the project has caused and we are grateful for everyone's patience.
"We hope removal of daytime restrictions on the A21 Sedlescombe Road North will make many people's daytime journeys easier, especially with the start of the new school term."
The move aims to reduce overlap with separate traffic restrictions on the A2100 Battle Hill, where Southern Gas Networks will begin work on 1 September.
Gas works are expected to last six weeks, scheduled for this time due to lower seasonal demand.
Contractor Balfour Beatty Living Places must still complete a new filter lane onto the A21, resurface the junction, add road markings and install traffic lights, the council said.
Some traffic restrictions will remain on Maplehurst Road, including parking limits and bus diversions.
East Sussex Highways said progress depends on weather conditions and heavy rain may affect the progress.
