A move to convert a former working men's club into a bar, coffee shop and ice cream parlour is set to be considered by council planners.
Ryecroft & Rawmarsh Working Men's Club in Rotherham closed in 2019, with a previous application for a premises licence withdrawn after local opposition.
The latest plan for the proposed Wigtox Lounge venue demonstrated the "intention to be a good neighbour to those around us", applicant Helen Clayton said.
Two ward councillors and nine residents objected to the latest application, with 57 letters of support received, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
In response to previous concerns about proposed late opening hours and potential noise, Ms Clayton said the planned closing times had been reduced.
The rooftop terrace of the premises would no longer be used, she confirmed.
"I genuinely want to run a family-friendly venue that will be an asset to the whole community," she said in the application.
Objections from residents included worries over people gathering outside the venue to smoke late at night and a potential increase in anti-social behaviour in the area.
One objector wrote: "Local residents are already reporting anxiety, stress and fear and I share this with them."
Another local resident wrote: "It plans to cater to a wide scope of people and this is what our local area needs."
A Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council sub-committee is due to make a decision on the plan on Wednesday.
