The company that operates a large holiday park in Cornwall has gone into administration.

Gwel an Mor in Portreath has dozens of holiday lodges along with facilities including indoor archery, a swimming pool, golf course, fishing lake and activity centre for children.

Joint administrators were appointed to Cove Communities Venture 2 Gwel an Mor OpCo Ltd, its parent company Cove Communities Holiday Park UK, and three other subsidiaries, which operate 10 holiday parks between them, including Gwel an Mor.

Administrator Adam Paxton, of Alvarez & Marsal Europe, said: "Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain stability across the parks."

He added: "Owners, residents and holidaymakers should not be impacted, and can contact the site managers with any questions they may have."

Mr Paxton said: "Other companies in the wider Cove Communities group are not impacted by the administrations and continue to trade as normal."

Gwel an Mor's website is still taking bookings for breaks and offering Black Friday deals.

Cove Communities bought the 100-acre estate in March 2021.

Gwel an Mor stepped in during the pandemic in 2020 to offer NHS workers accommodation during the lockdown.

It also furloughed 150 staff.

The BBC has approached Cove Communities Holiday Park UK for comment and was directed to the administration team's PR.
