GP surgery named as best provider for second time

A doctor's surgery from Warwickshire has been recognised in a national healthcare awards for the second year in a row.

St Wulfstan Surgery, in Southam, was named the winner of the Primary and Community Care Provider for the Health Service Journal (HSJ) awards 2025.

The practice was recognised for its "high-quality, proactive care guided by values of care, quality, and compassion".

GP Partner, Dr Faris Al-Ramadani, said: "This is an incredible achievement for our practice. We dedicate ourselves to supporting our patients and each other."

The awards ceremony, in its 45th year, took place on 20 November at Evolution London and was hosted by comedian Rob Brydon.

Dr Al-Ramadani, said: "We also believe, as a GP surgery, we can drive the development of better, more integrated care services, and help support the overall wellbeing of our community.

"This recognition validates our team's dedication and gives us renewed motivation to continue striving for excellence in patient care."

'Awards are truly inclusive'

The practice was recognised for using technology to free staff time for "ambitious care initiatives", improving both patient outcomes and job satisfaction.

Alastair McLellan, Editor of the HSJ said the calibre of entries was "exceptional", making for difficult decision making on the judging panel.

He said: "St Wulfstan Surgery stood out as a truly worthy winner. For over four decades, the HSJ Awards have recognised the dedication and innovation of those working in and with the NHS.

"These awards remain truly inclusive, welcoming entries from all corners of the service, from trusts to primary care teams, public health to the voluntary sector.

The HSJ awards is the largest annual benchmarking and recognition programme for the health sector.
