£100k climate change fund for community schemes
- Published
Community groups with projects aimed at tackling climate change are being urged to apply for funds from a £100,000 pot.
Electricity North West (ENW) is giving grants of up to £15,000 per group to kickstart groups and help them develop their plans.
Helen Seagrave, Electricity North West’s community energy manager, said: "The applications that have already been submitted are an incredibly diverse range."
The deadline to apply is Friday, 26 July and successful applicants will be notified in September.
Last year's funded projects included Cleator Moor Celtic FC, which used its grant to install solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
South Lakeland Action on Climate Change put a £15,000 grant towards community engagement activity to promote low carbon solutions.
Ms Seagrave said: "More people want to tackle climate change whilst getting a community benefit and making a difference.
"Our fund is on hand to make a difference to groups’ or organisations’ new or current projects."
