Former insurance offices in Scunthorpe could be converted into flats.

A planning application has been made to check if approval is needed to change the use of the first, second and third floors of the building on High Street.

The use of the ground floor, which is home to a Romanian supermarket chain and barber shop, will remain the same, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.

Most of the 26 proposed flats will contain one bedroom, a bathroom, lounge and small kitchen.

Some, however, also have study rooms, and the plans suggest one flat will have two bedrooms and another three.

Elsewhere in the town centre, the LDRS also reported that DSS Property Investments has applied to confirm approval to change vacant offices in Frances Street and St Mary’s Street into five flats.

Three will have two bedrooms each and the others one bedroom.

In an application document, Keystone Architecture said it would "provide low-cost accommodation for people seeking to live in a central location”.

External alterations are expected to be minor.
