Homes plan for old factory site approved

Plans to create homes and apartments on an old village factory site have been approved.
Fernbrook Builders Ltd applied to build on recently-demolished workshops in Ringstead, near Raunds.
Six houses will be built on the site, with three flats created in an old office building next door, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
A handful of residents lodged objections including over parking, but North Northamptonshire Council backed the plans.
Two houses will front on to Spencer Street and four on to Denford Road, with a shared driveway running through the middle of the site.
Contributions towards education and libraries were requested by the council, but because it is not classed as a "major development" no further money was sought.
Planning officers said: "Whilst it is unfortunate to lose some of the fabric of the former factory, the retention of the attractive office building and the high quality design of the proposed new build dwellings is welcomed."
