A woman was seriously sexually assaulted in the grounds of Truro Cathedral, the police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the attack took place between 23:30 BST on Friday 15 March and 00:30 on Saturday 16 March.

Officers said the woman had been on a night out with friends when the assault happened.

They would like to speak to four key witnesses, who alerted the woman's friends to the incident.

Det Con Amanda Gilbert said: “The group of males are described as being around 16 to 17-years-old and were wearing grey jogging bottoms, three of the boys had dark or black coats on.

"The fourth boy had an orange jacket on with a sling bag over his shoulder.

"The boys all had similar light brown hair which was thicker on top and short on the sides."

Anybody with information is urged to contact the police.
