The site of a former pub in Wolverhampton is set to be turned into 19 new homes.

The Happy Wanderer pub, on Green Lanes in Bilston, was demolished in 2021 after being plagued by arson attacks and anti-social behaviour following its closure in 2017.

A planning application for a series of two and three-bedroom houses, and six one-bedroom flats, has been approved by the council.

The all-electric properties have been designed to be energy efficient with the aim of reducing running costs.

The site is now run by the Black Country Housing Group and construction work will be managed by developer Keon Homes.

Wolverhampton's deputy mayor councillor Linda Leach, said: “This will transform this once troublesome site and create something that will provide a real uplift for neighbouring residents and businesses.”
