Missing man, 85, has walked 27 miles - police

An 85-year-old man from Cheshire who has been missing for over a week has walked 27 miles and was last spotted in north Wales, police have said.

George Fewtrell left his home in Neston eight days ago and detectives believe he has walked to Holywell.

The last confirmed sighting of him was in Neston on 25 June, but he was seen several times on CCTV crossing the border to Flintshire.

Det Insp Chris Owen from North Wales Police appealed to anyone who may have seen him to contact the force.

Mr Fewtrell had been seen at about 09:45 BST on 25 June in the Bridge Court area of Neston before he made his way on foot to Flintshire.

He is known to have made a 27-mile walk and was last seen on CCTV in Holywell on Greenfield Street at the junction with New Road just after 00:40 on 26 June, the force said.

Mr Fewtrell is described as white, about 5ft 7in (1.70m) tall, of medium build, with balding and short grey hair.

At the time of his disappearance he was believed to be wearing a black and red cap and a dark navy or black jacket with white detailing.

“Anyone who thinks that they may have seen George, or anyone matching his description, please get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity," Det Insp Owen said.

“We are also appealing directly to George - please contact us to let us know that you are OK."

Anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage is asked to contact the force.
