Police have warned people to expect drug checks and drones at a festival this weekend.

About 40,000 music lovers are set to attend Kendal Calling at Lowther Deer Park.

Cumbria Police said the force was working with organisers, security and the local council to ensure it is "safe and enjoyable".

Officers are currently on site with drug detection dogs, carrying out sweeps of the grounds and surrounding areas.

This year's headliners include Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Streets and Paolo Nutini.

Insp Sarah Hodkinson, from Cumbria Police, said the aim was to "ensure the safety of everyone attending the event, protect the public and reduce the number of illegal substances brought on to site".

“We will have non-unfirmed and uniformed officers along with our dogs section assisting security staff and deploying thermal imaging drones throughout the car parks."
