A Grade II listed hotel and health club could be transformed into flats.

The owner of Fieldways Hotel and Health Club, on Hilperton Road in Trowbridge, wants to convert the Edwardian mansion into 15 apartments.

A planning application for the project was previously submitted in 2022 but later withdrawn.

The owner of the building, located just off the A361, has re-submitted plans to Wiltshire Council.

The 13-bedroom, family-run hotel went up for sale in 2018 for offers of more than £1.2m.

The new proposed development would keep the existing 33 parking spaces and the application said the number of affordable units remained “an area for discussion”.

“Significant elevations will be preserved within the scheme, with modern annexing removed to reveal historic fabric, in the region of the laundry, link building and the dance studio, which will be returned to a courtyard,” the application said.

The building currently has a bar, restaurant and function facilities and retains many period features.

A decision on the planning application is due on 10 July
