A collection of murals printed on a giant letterpress printer has gone on display in a landmark former mill in West Yorkshire.

Work printed at the People Powered Press in Shipley, in collaboration with local community groups, is on show at Salts Mill in Saltaire.

Among the murals is a banner reading "Home, Safety, Freedom" - a replica of one displayed in Bradford around the time it was named UK City of Culture 2025.

The exhibition is open every weekend in May and is free to visit.

It opened as part of Saltaire Arts Trail, which took place over the weekend of 4-6 May.

The People Powered Press got its name as it takes two people to pull its heavy roller over the steel-cut type and paper.

It is the largest letterpress printing press of its kind - certified by the Guinness Book of Records - and measures 4.5 ft (1.36 sq m). It prints on sheets of paper measuring 5ft x 3.2ft (1.5m x 1m).

One of the murals made especially for the exhibition is one which reads "How queer, to be seen as invisible', and was made with members of Queer Saltaire, a group which connects LGBTQ+ individuals and allies from Saltaire and surrounding areas.

Other pieces include one which reads "Nothing for us without us", which was created with young people from a Born in Bradford project looking at the journey from adolescence to adulthood.

Antony Dunn from the People Powered Press said: “It’s been a privilege to work with over 100 community groups from Bradford and beyond since we set ourselves up in Shipley.

"Around 3,000 people have now had a try at letterpress printing on the People Powered Press.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to meet and work with all these inspiring people, and we hope they enjoy seeing what they’ve made together in this amazing space.

“We’re really grateful to have been invited by Saltaire Inspired to take part in the Saltaire Arts Trail this year, and that the team at Salts Mill have allowed us to occupy their beautiful roof space."
