Slough Borough Council is consulting on plans for a major road

Plans for a major overhaul of a busy road, including reducing the speed limit and building new cycle lanes, have been revealed.

New images offer a first look at designs for proposed work to Farnham Road in Slough - which includes reducing the speed limit through the main shopping centre to 20mph.

Slough Borough Council has invited residents and businesses to share their views on the proposals, which would also include upgraded footways and street lighting.

The council's transport leader Paul Kelly said the plans would "transform" the area and and make it "better for residents, businesses, visitors and all road users".

There would also be improvements to the small park and changes to the car park at the junction of Sheffield Road, the council said.

The scheme was made possible following a successful bid for government levelling-up funding.

The council has already consulted on the "vision for the scheme" and is now looking for residents' "input into the proposed design", Mr Kelly said.

Drop in sessions for residents to find out more are being held at the Centre on Farnham Road on Tuesday 23 January, Thursday 25 January and Thursday 1 February.

The public consultation closes on Sunday 11 February.
