Walking routes that avoid polluted areas have been set out for people walking their children to two primary schools in Stanwell.

Spelthorne Borough Council suggested three quiet routes for pupils attending Town Farm and Stanwell Field schools.

Air pollution monitoring took place using portable sensors on Thursday, which was National Clean Air Day, and data on nitrogen dioxide levels will be made available by the authority on Tuesday.

The Surrey council said people could request the data by emailing the authority, external.

A spokesman for the authority said: "Choosing walking routes that avoid polluted areas to school can help safeguard children's health by reducing their exposure to harmful pollutants, promoting cleaner air, and ensuring a safer and healthier journey to class."
