A man and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested and charged after suspected gang activity in a town, police said.

About £3,000, cannabis, bolt croppers and a jerry can, believed to be connected to an alleged arson attack, were found at two separate addresses in the Wigmore area of Luton, Bedfordshire Police said.

The man, who is in his 20s, and the teenager have been charged with several offences including drugs supply, blackmail, arson, money laundering, possession of a knife and going equipped for theft.

Sgt Ken Foster said: "We are working around the clock to disrupt gangs and organised crime groups in Luton.

He said when drugs were found, officers "invariably find knives and other weapons, as well as children and vulnerable adults being exploited".
