Man facing jail for attempted murder of wife

Raju Mollah faces a jail sentence for the attempted murder of his wife
- Published
A man who poured hot oil on his wife's face, before violently assaulting her in a sustained attack, has been found guilty of her attempted murder.
Raju Mollah denied the charge, only admitting grievous bodily harm, but was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on 18 August.
The 49-year-old was arrested on 12 January this year after officers were called to reports of a man attacking a woman.
He is set to be sentenced in November, the court heard.
Mollah had carried out the "vicious attack," where he "clearly tried to kill his wife", said Rebecca Pugh of West Midlands Police.
She had suffered "significant and life-changing" injuries she said.
"Thankfully Mollah will be spending a good amount of time behind bars," she added.
