A teenager from Alderney has completed a 100km (62-mile) bike ride in aid of the island's sailing club.

Avid sailor George, 13, cycled eight-and-a-half laps of Alderney at the weekend.

The money raised will go towards new equipment and maintenance.

George said he wanted to give back to the place that had done so much for him.

George's dad James said of his son: "He does everything at 100 miles an hour.

"That's just how it goes with George, when he says he's going to do something, he's going to do something."

Nigel Vooght, Commodore of Alderney Sailing Club and former world champion sailor, said he hoped George's efforts inspired other young people in Alderney become to become confident and competitive sailors.
