Firefighters have been tacking a blaze in a wooden barn on land that is being restored as a public farm.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene on Throop Road in Bournemouth at about 19:15 GMT on Monday.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council has been regenerating the land, formerly known as Hicks Farm, external, into a public farm and nature park.

Police believe the fire was started deliberately.

No-one was injured in the blaze and inquiries are under-way to establish the full circumstances, according to Dorset Police.

Crews from Redhill Fire Station warned those living nearby to keep their windows closed overnight due to a large amount of smoke which was being carried by the wind.
