Jersey explosion access road could reopen in May

A road which has remained closed for over a year since an explosion could reopen in May.
A section of Pier Road was closed following the explosion of a block of flats in December 2022, which saw 10 people die.
The road in St Helier was closed to allow clearance of the site, police and forensics investigations and the demolition of surrounding buildings.
Constable Andy Jehan, the Minister for Infrastructure, said officials were assessing the road surface ready for it to reopen.
'Practical assessments'
Mr Jehan said decisions would only be confirmed following discussions with bereaved families and people who lost their homes.
He said: "Proposals are being considered for the re-use of the site for housing, and the approach we will take to remember those who tragically lost their lives, and the memorial that will be agreed.
"As part of this work, it is my intention to look at opening the road by 10 May as we need a fully functioning highway network.
"We are currently undertaking practical assessments on the road surface and the hoarding of the site."
