Appeal after inmate absconds from open prison

A search is under way to locate an inmate who absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire.

Steven Gaskell left HMP Sudbury between 20:30 BST and midnight on Friday, Derbyshire Police said.

The 32-year-old was serving a sentence of more than five years for causing death by driving whilst disqualified and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

He is described as being about 6ft 3in tall (1.9m), with blonde hair and a blonde/ginger beard.

The force said Gaskell had links to Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, West Yorkshire, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Rutland.

Anyone with any information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Derbyshire Police.
