An 87-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of his wife.

Delia Haxworth, 85, was pronounced dead after she was found in need of urgent medical treatment at a property in Upper Lansdown Mews, Bath, on Tuesday.

William Arthur Haxworth, of Upper Lansdown Mews, has been charged with her murder.

He appeared before Bath Magistrates' Court on Thursday and remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.

Det Insp Mark Newbury said: “Although a man has been charged we are still in the early stages of our investigation.

"I hope that anyone with information will come forward to help us find the answers for the family.”
