Family and friends of knife victim Mike Riddiough-Allen have revealed the latest stage of a car restoration project that was taken on as a tribute to him.

Car enthusiast Mr Riddiough-Allen, 32, was stabbed outside the Eclipse nightclub in Bodmin on 30 April 2023.

He had been working on a BMW estate, which thanks to his friends is nearly complete and on show at the BHP Fuel Fest event in Exeter.

Kevin Allen, Mr Riddiough-Allen's father, said: "It is part of his friends' and family's grieving process, they feel they have to finish it for him."

He said his son was always helping others with similar projects, so it seemed appropriate to finish the BMW, which Mr Riddiough-Allen had intended to use as a daily driver.

"It's a work of loyalty and friendship from all his mates," he said at the car show.

"It is also a thank you to him, he never really finished a project because he was always helping others.

"He was that sort of guy, and his friends felt that they had to do this."

The car has been on show at the one-day event in Exeter, but can be seen again, on a day of family fun in aid of Mikes Trust, which was set up to educate young people about knife crime.

Mikes Motor Mania, external takes place at Perranporth Airfield on 23 June.
