Two charged in tower block firearms incident

Two men have been arrested and charged after firearms police were called to an incident at a tower block in South Lanarkshire.

Specialist officers were deployed to the flats at Calder Tower, on Mount Cameron Drive South in East Kilbride on Sunday.

Police Scotland said the men, both aged 48, were arrested at 13:20 in connection with a "disturbance" at the block. Two knives were recovered from the scene.

There were no reported injuries. The force said officers would remain in the area while inquiries continued.

The men are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court later.
