More than 150 "twinkling" Christmas trees are to go on display in Beverley Minster.

Visitors will be able to view the trees between 4 and 8 December.

Entertainment, music and fireworks in Flemingate marked the start of the town's Christmas activities on Friday.

Councillor Nick Coultish said: "We look forwarding to welcoming visitors to the town and seeing residents take part in the festive activities."

The town centre will also feature a reindeer trail during November and December, while Flemingate shopping centre will host a Nordic tipi bar, festive goats, live music and funfair rides.

A festive market will take place on 7 December.

Meanwhile, the Beverley Festival of Christmas will return for its 28th year on 8 December with more than 120 stalls, fairground rides, birds of prey and an interactive ice sculpture.

East Riding Theatre will spend December celebrating its 10th anniversary with Christmas carol performances.
