Brighton & Hove City Council is asking the public for its views on an e-scooter hire scheme.
The public consultation is running until 21 December.
If it gets approval, the hire scheme could begin in spring 2026.
The authority said it believed a hire scheme would reduce the number of illegal e-scooters being ridden on the city's streets.
Hiring the scooters would be limited to people over the age of 17, and they would only be allowed to ridden on roads, cycle lanes and shared spaces.
They would be limited to 12.5mph (20km/h) and have front and rear lights, registration plates and horns.
GPS technology would be used to stop them being ridden outside Brighton and Hove, and also used to limit their speed or being used at certain times of the night.
