Police officer showed body worn videos to friend

The hearing ruled that PC Kathy Gymer would have been dismissed if she was still serving in the force

A police officer showed videos taken from her body worn camera to a friend, a misconduct panel heard.
PC Kathy Gymer, from Essex Police, would have been sacked if she had not already resigned after she was also found to have looked at police systems while at home or off-duty without a purpose.
The panel heard that while Ms Gymer was on duty she also used a police system to search details of someone she knew and shared the information with a third person.
The misconduct hearing, chaired by assistant chief officer Fiona Henderson, on 13 and 14 October followed an investigation by the force's professional standards department into the incidents on 9 and 11 August, 2024.
The chair found all the allegations against Ms Gymer proven and that she had breached the professional standards of behaviour.
Ms Henderson said: "By accessing police systems without legitimate purpose and sharing confidential information with others, the officer failed to uphold the standards expected of all officers and staff.
"When that trust is broken, it undermines confidence in the entire service."
