Man accused of murdering his elderly mother

A man has been accused of murdering his mother after she was found with fatal injuries at a property in Birmingham.
The woman in her 70s - yet to be formally named by police - died in hospital after she was discovered at an address on Clarence Road in the Soho area of the city at about 13:00 BST on Friday.
An investigation was launched by West Midlands Police and officers made an arrest later that day.
Earlier, Surjit Kaulam, 38, of Clarence Road, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.
He was remanded in custody following the hearing and is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.
