Two people arrested in connection with a zombie knives seizure, are some of the first detained after a new law prohibiting the weapons came into force.

A man, 26, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in Worcestershire on Thursday, after officers found the knives, machetes, crack cocaine and heroin

West Mercia Police had executed a warrant at a property on Ennerdale Close in Wardon, Worcester, on Thursday.

The suspects were also arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled class A drugs with intent to supply, and are being held in custody.

Possession of zombie-style blades has been illegal in the UK since 24 September and the law also covers the manufacture, import, sales and supply of the weapons.

Det Con Bethany Austin, of West Mercia Police, said: “These two people are amongst the first people to be arrested since the legislation was brought in at the beginning of last week.

"We are proactively taking action to remove dangerous weapons like these from our communities, and reduce the tragic consequences from both knife crime and drug offences."
