Residents evacuated from a property deemed unsafe should find out when they can return home after a structural survey has been completed, council bosses said.

Emergency services were called to the building on St Nicholas Street in Bodmin at about 16:00 GMT on Sunday after receiving reports that masonry from the property had fallen on to the road.

Cornwall Council said the building known locally as the "round house", which contains a number of flats, had been assessed by a surveyor and the structural issue had been localised.

However, the authority said it would not be known when two people who live in the flats would be able to move back in.

The council said: "The building's owner has arranged for a structural survey to take place and we'll know more once this has been completed."

The council said a road closure on the B3268 had been lifted, but the bottom of Crinnicks Hill remained shut.
