A man has been taken to hospital following a gas explosion.

Police and fire crews were called to a house in Eston, on Teesside, at about 20:40 GMT on Monday.

The man suffered arm injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

About six properties near the junction of Albert Road and Church Lane were evacuated as a precaution until a structural survey could be carried out, Cleveland Police said.
