A car has crashed through the front wall of a block of flats and into a living room.

Some residents in the block in Newport have had to be moved out and given temporary accommodation.

The blue Nissan Qashqai ended up in the ground floor flat of the Fortlea apartment building in Gaer Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Footage on social media shortly afterwards showed emergency services at the scene trying to assess the damage.

Another car was also involved in the incident and could be seen nearby with its rear end smashed in.
