The A18 Mountain Road had to be closed for emergency repairs, the Department of Infrastructure has confirmed.

The closure was necessary for staff to work on a collapsed culvert, which carried a stream under part of the carriageway, the department said.

The road, which is the main route between Isle of Man's capital, Douglas, and Ramsey and rest of the north, was shut from the Hairpin to the Bungalow.

The department said the closure would remain in place until 18:00 GMT on Sunday.
