Farmer shot dead in field named by police

A farmer who was shot dead in a field has been named by police.

Thomas Olverson, 75, was found in a field in Pinfold Lane, Scarisbrick, at about 17:00 BST on Thursday.

Lancashire Police said a 29-year-old man who was known to Mr Olverson had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mr Olverson lived at nearby Marsh Hey Farm, the force said.
