A fire at a derelict mill in West Yorkshire was started deliberately, police believe.

The blaze broke out at Canal Mills in Armley, Leeds, just after 05:00 BST on Sunday, with large plumes of smoke visible from the surrounding area.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent 12 fire engines and two aerial appliances to the scene, and roads were closed nearby.

Spokespersons for West Yorkshire Police and the fire service confirmed the fire was now being treated as arson.
