A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man’s throat was cut.

Thames Valley Police said they were alerted to the incident on Albion Crescent in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, at around 23:25 BST on Tuesday.

The victim, who is in his sixties, suffered wounds to the side and back of his neck and but is in a stable condition in hospital.

Officers believe he was known to his attacker and have arrested a 21-year-old man from West Drayton, Hillingdon.

Det Insp Dominique Muldoon appealed to the public for information.

She said: "We are undertaking a number of enquiries and reassurance patrols, so members of the public will see an increased police presence in the area.

"At this stage we believe the parties involved are known to each other and that this is an isolated incident, with no risk to the wider public."
