Jeremy Clarkson submits plans to extend pub

The pub is expected to feature in the next series of Clarkson's Farm

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has submitted plans to extend his pub in the Cotswolds.

The Farmer's Dog, in Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire, opened to the public in August.

According to planning documents submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council, Clarkson's team want to add a "modest" extension to the rear of the pub.

The development would provide "improved" toilet facilities and "more efficient" cellar storage.

It would replace an "unsightly" temporary outside storage yard and ensure the pub had accessible toilets, planning documents said.

The application is currently under consideration by West Oxfordshire District Council.

As depicted on his Amazon Prime farming show, Clarkson has previously sometimes had a difficult relationship with his local authority.

In 2022, the former Grand tour presenter was forced by the council to close a restaurant he had opened on his Diddly Squat farm.

Hundreds of people queued for hours to be among the first customers at the pub on its first day of trading earlier this year.

The tent used to film The Grand Tour - Clarkson's Amazon Prime driving show he presented with Richard Hammond and James May - has been permanently installed in the pub's garden.

The tent features The Farmer's Puppy - a smaller companion to the pub, a butcher and a second iteration of the Diddly Squat Farm Shop.
