More than 5,000 people have signed up to the Guernsey electoral roll in the four days since it opened.

The States of Guernsey urged islanders to sign up ahead of 2025's general election.

Voting will take place on 18 June, with people registered on the roll able to vote for up to 38 candidates.

A States spokesperson said the deadline to register was 30 April and the process took less than five minutes.

Colette Falla, registrar general of electors, said: "It's important to remember that everyone who wants to vote in next year's general election must register on the electoral roll, as it's a new roll.

"We will continue to encourage people to register online but paper registration forms have been delivered to all households this week should people want to register that way."
