New CCTV cameras on their way to Essex borough

The cameras will be installed in Castle Point

More than 130 new CCTV cameras are to be installed in Essex to update a "very out of date" system.
Castle Point Borough Council said the cameras would deter crime.
The authority received about £1m from the police, fire and crime commissioner for the scheme.
Russell Savage, portfolio holder for people and community, said the council's partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council would provide monitoring of the footage from the Southend CCTV hub.
The estimated cost of the installation is about £100,000.
Annually, maintenance costs will be about £40,000 and monitoring will be £117,000, with a management fee of about £25,000, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
