A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 20s was fatally stabbed in south-east London, the Metropolitan Police has said.
The London Ambulance Service called police to a stabbing in Hither Green Lane at around 15:20 GMT on Tuesday. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital where he died.
The man's next of kin have been informed and Supt Nick Jowett said the force's thoughts are with the victim's family.
"Although we are in the very early stages of the investigation, I can assure you that detectives are working at pace to identify those responsible for this senseless attack."
Hither Green Lane and Benin Street are closed while a crime scene remains in place.
Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No arrests have been made.
