A further six people have been charged following disorder across Lancashire, days after the deaths of three girls in Southport.

Three men aged between 19 and 38, from Blackpool and Preston, and a 17-year-old girl, from Thornton in Cleveleys, were charged on Saturday with offences including violent disorder and possession of drugs.

Four appeared before magistrates in Preston on Saturday.

Two men, aged 21 and 50 from Blackpool, will appear before the same court later charged with violent disorder and wounding.

Widespread damage

Five people were also charged last week, Lancashire Police said.

Det Ch Supt Pauline Stables said: “We are continuing to make arrests and to charge people following the disorder seen in some parts of our county last week.

“We will not tolerate disorder in Lancashire and we will bring those involved to justice."

Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, were stabbed to death at a holiday club on 29 July.

Violent disorder then erupted in towns and cities across the UK, causing injuries to officers and widespread damage, after misinformation about the suspect being an asylum seeker was shared online.
